Ex-post verification program of import, export and re-export transactions
Set as the primary objective to fight against customs fraud, the Tax Administration Superintendence –SAT- has appointed SGS to perform an ex-post verification program of import, export and re-export transactions of goods which have as their origin or destination the Republic of Guatemala.
The program consists on:
1. The verification of the accuracy of the documentation which supports the customs statements of import, export and re-export regimens;
2. The validation of the truthfulness of the transactions in which the following themes are related to: value, origin, customs classification, quantity and information on the supplier, manufacturer, vendor or buyer of such goods.
This verification process is carried out in the country of supply, origin or destination of the goods throughout the SGS affiliates worldwide, this guarantees an optimum implementation and development of this service of validation of transactions of international commerce.
Benefits
Throughout this service, the Tax Administration Superintendence –SAT- brings a more trustworthy process of import and export of goods; promotes a fair competition environment with the local industry and strengthens the equity amongst those Guatemalan importers which follow their duties concerning customs regulations, legally prosecuting those who do not follow the regulations.
Also throughout this service the Tax Administration Superintendence –SAT- will be able to have a reliable database that contains the accurate and meaningful risk criteria necessary to observe the correct law compliance which leads in benefit of all taxpayers.
